Electricians get a 5% pay rise
Following attempts by electrical contractors to introduce a new grade of labourer within the electrical engineering industry, electricians unions have agreed a low than expected pay increase in return for the Labourer grade not being introduced.
There were fears that the labourer grade was a move to de-skill the electrical engineering industry and although electricians had previously rejected the a 5% pay rise, they later back tracked and accepted the offer in order to maintain professionalism in an industry in which safety is paramount.
The new deal will see a 5% rise increase over the next two years under the industry JIB agreement.
The JIB is an impartial organisation that sets standards, regulates relations between employers and employees, and improves the industry, its status and productivity.
