Truck manufacturing giant, Leyland Trucks has appointed Lancashire-based Conlon Construction to renovate their headquarters at Lancashire Business Park, in Farrington, Leyland.

The project will take around 52 weeks to complete and will involve extending above the existing two storey office accommodation, upgrading the office space and allowing a reorganisation of the factory flow systems.

The developments include extending staff canteen, upgrading the offices, toilets, medical centre as well as creating a conference centre and a visitor centre.

With a history dating back to 1896, Leyland Trucks, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PACCAR Inc, employs around 1,000 staff and produces 50 trucks per day.

Michael Conlon, chairman at Conlon Construction, said: “Leyland Trucks is one of Lancashire’s greatest success stories, so we’re honoured to have been awarded this contract.

“This renovation project will enable Leyland Trucks to streamline its business operations, providing better flexibility and efficiency across the engineering and administrative sides of the business.

“It will also provide better facilities for the many customer and education visits hosted throughout the year.”
